The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido is Jun'ichiro Sekino's ambitious reimagining of the classic subject made famous by Hiroshige in the nineteenth century. The Tokaido road connecting Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto was one of the most important highways in Japanese history, and its fifty-three post stations had been depicted by numerous artists.
