Takebe Genzo is a central character in the beloved Sugawara play, and Sadanji II brought formidable gravitas to the role. Shunsen's portrait captures the character's moral conflict with characteristic subtlety. Part of the Nigao-e Shu series (1925-1929), limited to approximately 150 impressions. Lifetime Watanabe editions bring $1,000-$2,500; reprints sell for $500-$1,000.
